obama says that the bad oil companies made 44 billion dollars over the last 3 months. So, if the oil companies make 8% profit and the federal government makes 15% profit, then the government made about 88 billion bucks over the last 3 months. My percentages might be off, but that is the way it works.Now obama wants to increase the profit for ther government. I guess they need a lot more money for their socialist programs and to give the rest of the world. One thing he will not mention though is that if the oil companies pay more to the government, then we will pay more to the oil companies. In a few years, they will complain that the oil companies are making too much money again, so they will start over. This hurts the U.S. economy and it really kill us, the people, the users of this gas. Since he cannot improve the world, maybe he is trying to bring us down to their standard of living. Hmmm, that is the socialist way.

Your post sounds like the Hannity repetition of the government doesn't do anything but gets so much money from oil/gas. Well, the government builds roads, fights wars, cleans up spills, responds to accidents, all (at least partly) attributable to oil/gas.
Keep in mind the 8% profit the oil companies take in already account for all of the costs and the 15% government "profit" is what the government uses for paying all of these oil related costs.
I disagree with the windfall profit tax because it is a bad idea, not because I'm buying into the vilification of socialists. Understand them. Fight their policies but don't vilify them. They are people who have a different solution and way of approaching problems. There way may be ineffective but that doesn't make them villains.
The program to bring down the standard of living has been ongoing for a long time. The International Financier and the Multi-National Mega-Corporation want world government to protect and further their own interest. Since that world government will likely be created on a socialist of fascist model and involve at least some redistribution of the wealth, the wealth must first be taken from us to make that government acceptable to the people.
Both Obama and McCain are thick with the Globalists. No matter what the November outcome, America and the American people will lose again.
